Bribed by Squirrels!
A Colorado Parks inspector pled guilty Wednesday to accepting bribes from local squirrels in exchange for ignoring their blatant, often hostile panhandling techniques in popular parks. Authorities began cracking down on squirrels last summer when they were accused of using 'shakedown' practices to get the peanuts they crave.
The inspector will face as much as nine months in prison and fines as high as $6,000.
The unidentified inspector reported 'gifts' valued at over $20,000. He claimed that he was weak and unable to resist the offers which included but were not limited to fine jewelry, small appliances, computer software and even chocolate. "City squirrels are well connected," he said, "They can get ANYTHING for you."
