4,000 Squirrel Bouncers Recalled

WASHINGTON -About 4,000 squirrel bouncers were recalled Tuesday after several reports of squirrels falling and bumping their heads.
The Bungee Squirrel Bouncer allows the animal to bounce while supported in a ``belly band,'' suspended from a tree branch. Knots tied in the rope that supports the bouncer can unravel, causing the squirrel to fall, said the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The commission and the bouncer's manufacturer, Nutties Inc. of Brandenburg, KY, have received six reports of knots failing, with squirrels being injured in four of those cases.
Consumers should immediately stop using the bouncers and return the bungee assembly to the manufacturer for repair.
Squirrel World catalogs, and squirrel specialty retailers in Kentucky and southern Indiana sold the bouncers from September 1998 through March 1999.
